About the team: 
Our Mobile Engineering team plays a pivotal role in enhancing the experience of our 2 million subscribers through two key apps: Everand and Scribd. The Everand app is a gateway for our users to access an expansive library of over 7 million titles, including ebooks, audiobooks, podcasts, and magazine articles, offering a Netflix-like experience. Meanwhile, the Scribd app provides access to an extensive collection of over 100 million user-uploaded documents, including PDFs and other formats. 

About the role:
We are looking for a talented and experienced Android engineer to join our team. As a mid-level Android engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Android applications. You will work closely with our product and design teams to understand requirements and deliver innovative solutions using the latest technologies. Must be a fast learner and ready to contribute without requiring much ramp-up time.

Requirements:

    • Design and build advanced applications for the Android platform using Jetpack Compose and Material design.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
    • Work with external data sources and APIs.
    • Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
    • Work on bug fixing and improving application performance.
    • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.

Desired Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.4+ years of experience in Android development.
    • Strong knowledge of Kotlin programming language.
    • Experience with Jetpack Compose, Compose Navigation, Kotlin Coroutines, and flows.
    • Experience with Dagger or Hilt for dependency injection.
    • Knowledge of architectural patterns like MVVM or MVI.
    • Image loading with Coil, persistence with Room DatabaseExperience with automated testing frameworks such as Espresso or Robolectric.
    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.
    • Ability to diagnose performance and memory leak issues.
    • Understanding of Google's Android design principles and interface guidelines.
    • Familiarity with Git and Continuous-Integration tools.
    • Nice to have:Experience with Media3 / Exoplayer
    • Auth0 authentication framework
At Scribd, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location. San Francisco is our highest geographic market in the United States. In the state of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $133,000 [minimum salary in our lowest geographic market within California] to $214,500 [maximum salary in our highest geographic market within California]. 

In the United States, outside of California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $109,000 [minimum salary in our lowest US geographic market outside of California] to $204,000 [maximum salary in our highest US geographic market outside of California]. 

In Canada, the reasonably expected salary range is between $130,000 CAD [minimum salary in our lowest geographic market] to $192,500 CAD[maximum salary in our highest geographic market]. 

We carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including but not limited to experience; job-related skill sets; relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been scoped. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for a competitive equity ownership, and a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
