Second Spectrum is also the Official Optical Tracking Provider of the National Basketball Association (NBA).  We provide software for coaches and players to help improve their game. We employ over 100 employees across 4 countries and are headquartered in Los Angeles (USA). We are growing our team in Manchester, U.K. Second Spectrum is seeking a highly motivated Football Data Operations Manager to join our team in the U.K.

Responsibilities:

    • Watch football matches to track/confirm software tracking of dead-balls, stoppage time, and other similar events
    • Correctly identify and confirm teams, lineups, and players, as well as tracking markings on players
    • Manage a large team of supervisors and operators to complete tasks on all football games
    • Communicate with your manager, team, and engineers if issues arise
    • Participate in post-game meetings to provide feedback to the team and to identify and correct problems
    • Be able to complete marking tasks that will improve the accuracy and design of our system
    • Run and monitor services for all football games during shift

Required Skills:

    • Passion for football and knowledge of the sport
    • High attention to detail
    • Ability to focus on a game while in a sometimes loud and potentially distracting environment
    • Extremely punctual, as shifts start at a precise time before the beginning of a live game
    • Ability to communicate and collaborate across teams and across remote offices
    • Be able to lead a large team and make decisions under pressure
    • Ability to give feedback to all team members
    • Self-starting team player who can work independently and is adaptable to change

Required Availabilities:

    • Start date between 1st May 2019 and 1st June 2019
    • Be able to travel to the United States for training for 1-2 months (May and June 2019
    • Commit to 40 hours of availability each week
    • Able to work according to football schedule, which includes holidays, holiday periods, evenings and weekends
    • Each shift will last between 5-8 hours
    • Actual work schedule will vary based on professional football league schedules
