Seek AI is hiring a Staff Research Scientist to push the state-of-the-art in our field of AI and set new records that are quantifiably and historically significant. We are a well-funded startup backed by top-tier VCs, with the mission of building AI that can reason over data. The Seek team already has a track record of setting records, having won a major leaderboard and issued two pioneering patents. As a core member of our team, you will help us accelerate this research progress.



Responsibilities

    • Shape and define research projects that enhance and expand our models' performance on key metrics.
    • Design and implement experiments that will drive the development of novel algorithms and refine existing techniques.
    • Interpret experimental results to inform future projects and research goals.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in LLM agents (recent examples include MCTSr, STaR/Quiet-STaR and PRM), and integrate cutting-edge methods into our work.
    • Partner with the product team to transfer concepts from research into production.

Ideal Candidate Profile

    • Strong desire to push the state-of-the-art in our field and set new records that are quantifiably and historically significant.
    • Strong machine learning fundamentals and a first-principles approach that guides your research.
    • Demonstrated experience in creating novel methods or enhancing existing techniques in machine learning or related fields.
    • Proficiency in programming languages widely used in machine learning research, such as Python.
    • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
    • Motivation to build from the ground up in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
    • Strength/experience in reinforcement learning and/or LLM finetuning/RLHF

    • As a key early team member, you’ll have a major impact shaping Seek’s growth trajectory.
    • Seek has partnerships with two academic research labs and through these partnerships has published joint research presented at major conferences such as NeurIPS. As part of our technical team, you will be provided with travel and access to these key conferences, and also have access to our academic research partners.
    • Our close advisors also include top CEOs from NYC and Silicon Valley (many of whom have gone from pre-PMF to IPO), and they meet with the team regularly to provide mentorship and valuable connections as we scale.

$190,000 - $225,000 a year
The annual base salary for this position is anticipated to be $190K ~ $225K based for the Greater New York area. The final offer may be determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Our compensation package also includes equity.

This role may be performed fully remotely within the United States for exceptional candidates. Please note that our US headquarters are located in NYC. If the remote work is performed outside of these offices, income may be subject to New York State tax withholding.
