Who we are, what we do.

45 of the top 100 construction companies use Sensat to unlock the complexities of the physical world by digitising real-world locations.

These digital replicas are helping leading infrastructure companies, such as M25, Network Rail and HS2, analyse and understand project data to make smarter decisions on building and infrastructure requirements while also improving safety, cost-efficiency, project collaboration and reducing waste for a more sustainable built environment.

We’re committed to building a sustainable business that can help create a sustainable world.

Sensat has raised $20m+ in venture funding, was named in Sifted top 50 start ups in 2021 and Otta’s Rocket list for companies to accelerate your career. We’re financially secure and committed to creating career development opportunities for all our team members.

The role

As a Back End Developer at Sensat, you’ll be working primarily with typescript (alongside some Python and Go on AWS) to ensure that we craft APIs and back end processes in order to continue to expand our platform to deal with massive datasets and new data streams. We’ve recently conducted one of the largest drone mapping projects in the UK, covering 120 miles of highway, providing 23 billion data points and 85,000 high-resolution images. That data needs to be stored, analysed and made available to users, and we’re looking to support more sources of data through new ingest architectures.

Whilst you’ll be comfortable in technologies mentioned above, you’ll be excited and motivated to embrace new areas of technology, or novel techniques where the problem requires it; your motivation will come from solving the problem rather than from a specific technology. You enjoy learning from and sharing knowledge with your colleagues regardless of seniority,  and you’ll enjoy contributing to code reviews and process improvements within your team.

At Sensat, we want engineers to contribute to solving problems, rather than solely implementing solutions. Within your team, you’ll take part in brainstorming sessions to introduce new features, improve existing functionality, and contribute to the roadmap of what gets built when. Whilst back end technology is the main focus of this role - nothing in our stack is necessarily off limits!

We’re in an exciting period of growth and need you to drive success and excellence. You’re a good listener and able to take feedback on board, you are emotionally intelligent and care for those around you, supporting their growth through the feedback you provide.
