Client Compliance Manager (Sequoia One)

As Sequoia One’s Client Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for managing Sequoia One’s health and welfare benefit and HR related compliance projects.  This includes research and analysis on topics under ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, IRC rules that impact employer-sponsored plans (such as 125, 105, 106 and 129), account-based plans such as HRAs, HSAs, and health FSAs, and staying abreast of new health and welfare benefits and HR-related legislation across the U.S., such as paid family leave laws.  You will work cross-functionally to communicate new regulatory updates, build new operating processes, hold internal subject matter trainings, and draft client-facing communications.  You will also work to ensure our compliance offering, processes, and resources are streamlined across Sequoia’s entire business.  

What You Get To Do

    • Provide our internal Client Service Department and Data Operations team with guidance and support on benefit related matters
    • Deliver subject matter expertise to our clients and teams, including researching and responding to compliance-related inquiries
    • Provide support related to key Client Compliance Team initiatives
    • Work collaboratively with Sequoia One’s legal counsel and leadership team
    • Responsible for resource management and creating intellectual capital on compliance related topics
    • Manage client communications, including legal alerts, blog and newsletter content
    • Actively monitor/review new benefit rules and regulations and systematically roll out information to clients and internal teams
    • Conduct compliance reviews of external materials
    • Hold annual internal team training's on various compliance-related topics
    • Develop and project manage client compliance processes for Sequoia One, including streamlining the client glide path and functionality of various client-facing systems


    • Bachelor’s and Juris Doctorate degree required
    • 3+ years of experience working in employee benefits or HR-related compliance
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Project and time management skills - experience working with cross-functional teams and driving projects through to execution
    • Detail and process-oriented with strong analytical and research skills
    • Experience in taking complex rules and regulations and distilling them down to digestible, actionable items
    • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Ability to multi-task and stay on deadline in a fast-paced environment
