Serán BioScience is searching for a Director of Information Technology to lead a dynamic department and implement industry-specific systems for an expanding CDMO. The Director of Information Technology will support our team of scientists and laboratories for the custom development and delivery of novel pharmaceutics. This role is responsible for overseeing all information technology operations and evaluating them according to established practices, standards, and pharmaceutical industry regulations. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and have experience with laboratory informatics implementation and support.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Contributes as an engaged leader of Serán BioScience within the framework of company mission and values
- Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new Information Technology team members
- Oversees daily workflow of the Information Technology department
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Provides coaching, performance management, employee development, and handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for all business IT systems including procurement, implementation, security, and maintenance
- Ensures site IT security compliance meets global regulatory standards
- Collaborates with department heads to identify the business analytical requirements of each department to determine and produce specific information technology needs
- Partners with Quality Assurance to establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by executive management
- Oversees and coordinates IT staff and IT contractor operations
- Determines solutions and systems for help desk and user support
- Ensures business requirements are met by IT vendors
- Establishes and maintains an IT budget as required by executive management
- Works interdepartmentally with senior leadership to determine IT solutions in business analytical laboratory environments
- Responsible for the design and execution of IT infrastructure standards, strategy, architecture, and processes
- Ensures compliance with pharmaceutical industry regulations and standards
- Inspects the use of information technology equipment, software, and infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
- Responsible for life cycle management of IT infrastructure required for business operations and sponsoring capital projects
- Identifies needs for upgrades, configurations, or new systems
- Accurately follows IT and regulatory standard operating procedures as required
- Performs other related duties as needed
Required Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity and experience with pharmaceutical industry regulations and standards, i.e. FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 27001, ITIL, etc
- Analysis, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
- Sound understanding of computers, networks, and infrastructure
- Deploying and managing laboratory informatics systems
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Outstanding communication abilities
- Strong project management skills
Education and Experience
- BA or MA in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent IT-industry certification and/or experience
- Proven experience, minimum 3 years, as IT director or similar role
- Preferred 2 years of experience in laboratory informatics implementation and support, or equivalent
- Experience leading IT personnel, projects, and infrastructures across various technologies
Physical Responsibilities
- Prolonged periods of standing at as desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time, occasionally up to 40 pounds
