Senior Engineering Project Manager

Serán is seeking a Senior Engineering Project Manager to oversee and coordinate various construction projects from start to finish. Projects range from renovations to complex equipment installations to ground up construction.  This role will be responsible for all aspects of the project, including developing and managing project controls, updating project stakeholders, supervising multidisciplinary design teams, and managing contractors. Successful candidates will be effective delegators, adept at identifying and prioritizing crucial aspects of the project, and skilled at problem solving with a team. Ideal candidates will have over five years of project management experience. Direct pharmaceutical industry or GMP experience is preferred, but those with experience managing large construction projects are encouraged to apply.

Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Responsible for managing and maintaining relationships with contractors, design firms, and consultants. Including, but not limited to reviewing proposals, awarding bids, managing contracts, and allocating resources
    • Supervises each contractor and subcontractor to ensure that work is conducted at a high level of safety and quality

Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provides leadership throughout the project by collaborating with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, or other involved parties
    • Develops detailed description of jobs and materials necessary to complete project. 
    • Schedules and coordinates projects in logical steps and allocates project resources necessary to achieve each milestone
    • Prepares and submits budget estimates and regularly communicates with stakeholders concerning project progress and costs
    • Ensures adherence to the budget and, when unexpected complications or issues arise, makes quick and necessary adjustments
    • Ensures safety standards and guidelines are followed on the jobsite and that all safety codes are met in construction
    • Oversees contract negotiations, revisions, and additions and adherence by all parties
    • Ensures that the project is constructed and documented in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices
    • Collaborates with clients, supervisory staff, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve problems, including work procedures, complaints, and construction or design issues
    • Manages and leads actions that are necessary due to delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites
    • Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, tradespersons, and craft workers
    • Performs other related duties as assigned 

Required Skills and Abilities

    • Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations related to the construction industry

    • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings

Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering required
    • Construction Manager certification by the American Institute of Constructors or Construction Management Association of America preferred
    • 5+ years of project experience working in the construction industry required
    • EIT certification preferred
    • Experience with the pharmaceutical industry or GMP is preferred

Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching 
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
    • May require travel
    • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers
    • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite
