The Public Programs Team at Seven Bridges brings together diverse team members who possess a unique balance of technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate the ability to think strategically about research and business questions, understand the scientific problems that researchers need to solve, and develop strategies for maximizing the success of a solution. 

As a Technical Program Manager, you will ensure Seven Bridges leadership in the global standards community (i.e. CWL, GA4GH, FHIR, etc.). You will  develop technical strategies for empowering the use of standards by our platform users and representing Seven Bridges’ interest at community standard meetings, guiding development through participation in development/oversight committees. You will help develop an action plan that identifies immediate areas to address following a review of Public-Program’s activities and the Program Roadmap.  Guide and promote the use of the CWL specifications across international analysis efforts and continue to evolve the standard to match the needs of our users and collaborators.

What you will be doing:

    • Develop, manage and maintain public program technical roadmap, consistent with Programs roadmap, for features that programs and strategic initiatives implement, including milestones and deliverables. 
    • Identify and communicate technical priorities for public programs to Program Teams, Product Development Managers, and Engineering teams. 
    • Work with Product Development Managers to synchronize development across related features.
    • Will work with teams to identify technical solutions that meet program requirements and can be built within the development time frame and within budget. 
    • Will represent the Program’s interest to resolve technical issues that might result in missing technical delivery milestones.  
    • Collaborate with program managers to guide data, workflow, networking, and analysis standards discussions on external standards. 
    • Collaborate with commercial stakeholders when standards have implications for commercial customers. 
    • Collaborate with program managers to develop feature proposals that advance the development and usability of our platforms.

Do you have what it takes?

    • PhD in science or engineering and/or experience in a software development environment.
    • Knowledge in genomics, clinical trials, and/or biomedical data analysis.
    • Program management experience in a relevant organization or multidisciplinary environment preferable.
    • Knowledge in genomics, clinical trials, and/or biomedical data analysis.
    • Ability to drive standards development via technical discussion which will result in Pull Requests and/or design of technical documents in open repository
    • Experience as and open source developer or contributor is a plus
    • Ability to work as part of a team, jointly making decisions to ensure alignment across projects managed by other individuals.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities. Are able to command the room and be a good, empathetic listener.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication across multi-disciplinary teams. 
    • Responsive and self-starting, can thrive in ambiguous and collaborative environments.
    • Availability to travel up to 10% of the time.  Currently there will be no travel due to COVID, all teams will be kept up to date as we get back to regular travel in the future.
