Project Background – The Hustle

The Hustle is an innovative, youth-focused reality TV show designed to reshape perceptions of young people in North-West Nigeria by showcasing their entrepreneurial capabilities, collaborative leadership, and social contributions. Funded by the European Union, the show aims to amplify positive youth narratives, promote economic empowerment, and foster social cohesion in Sokoto, Katsina, and Zamfara States. Through compelling, entertainment-based storytelling on national broadcast and digital platforms, The Hustle will showcase youth-led innovation while tackling root causes of conflict, exclusion, and poverty.

Position Summary
The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will be a key member of The Hustle project implementation team, responsible for designing and executing a strategic communications and marketing plan that elevates the show's visibility, public engagement, and social impact. The Coordinator will oversee branding, media relations, digital engagement, and audience development efforts across Sokoto, Katsina, and Zamfara States and beyond.

Working closely with the Reality TV Show Manager, media partners, and project stakeholders, the Coordinator will manage content creation, online and offline campaigns, and ensure consistency of messaging across platforms. The role also includes leading the show's media outreach, building partnerships with journalists and influencers, managing public relations events, and overseeing the production and dissemination of promotional materials. The Coordinator will collaborate with Results Studio in ensuring strategic alignment between communication outputs, the show’s core objectives, and the project's broader peacebuilding and youth empowerment goals.

Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the TV show.
    • Lead content planning and oversee the production of multimedia promotional materials.
    • Manage social media strategy and execution, ensuring regular engagement and performance tracking.
    • Coordinate media relations and public engagement activities, including press releases, interviews, and media briefings.
    • Ensure strong branding and visual identity across platforms and materials.
    • Collaborate with production and field teams to ensure accurate and inspiring storytelling.
    • Monitor and evaluate communication effectiveness and propose adjustments for improvement.
    • Manage relationships with PR agencies, digital influencers, and broadcast/media outlets.
    • Support campaign development and audience growth across TV, radio, and digital channels.

Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Media Studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
    • At least 5 years of progressive experience in communications and marketing, preferably in media, entertainment, or development.
    • Demonstrated experience managing multi-platform campaigns (TV, radio, digital).
    • Proven skills in brand development, media engagement, and public relations.
    • Experience working with production teams in high-profile or public-facing initiatives is an advantage.
    • Familiarity with North-West Nigeria context and youth-focused messaging is an added asset.
