Purpose of the Position:
The Finance and Grants Coordinator will be working directly under the supervision of the Finance Manager. The position holder will be responsible for a range of bookkeeping responsibilities as well as providing support on finance and project budget management functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review support documents and ensure compliance with Search and Donor rules and regulations;
- Responsible for financial grants management including projections and planning, performance analysis, budgeting, reporting, and oversight for the Search Grants portfolio.
- Upon signing of a new grant agreement, facilitate a smooth handover of the project, follow up on outstanding due diligence assessment and project partnership agreement tasks, and confirm reporting responsibilities and processes with relevant parties at the project kickoff meeting.
- Maintain internal tracking of reporting timelines, including working with relevant departments to coordinate appropriate data collection, analysis, and financial and narrative reporting by Search and its partners.
- Review and refine high-quality financial reports and other associated donor communications, ensuring timely submission and compliance with Search, donor, and partner requirements.
- Act as a communications focal point for assigned projects, responding to donor queries and relaying questions from the program implementation team as needed.
- Ensure grant and partnership management and contract review meetings are conducted with the project and finance teams for assigned grants and partnership agreements.
- Ensures that sub-grantees financial operations are in compliance with the Organization’s policies and procedures
- Ensures that monthly transactions are reviewed and captured in General Ledger accurately and on a timely basis
- Review sub-award expenses before they are posted to the finance system;
- Work hand in hand with the Finance team to reconcile sub-award advances;
- Participate in Search country procurement activities;
- Monitor funds, ensuring that up-to-date records of expenditures are kept and that they comply with budget allocations and donor requirements;
- Monitor the budget vs actual before processing any payment to ensure we are within the budget;
- Completion of payment vouchers and ensuring proper and relevant approvals are done;
- Preparation of documents for internal and external communication which give oversight of the projects
- Ensure compliance with financial statutory matters;
- Ensure financial information is recorded accurately, including those appropriate aggregations to budget lines and monthly spending reports are accurate and prepared in a timely manner.
- Lead the effort on subgrants closures (financially) and systematically coordinates and report to the Finance
- Conduct partner site visits and Ensure consistency across sub-grantees on basic provisions and highlight issues that could be viewed as biased or discrepancies.
- Liaison with the field offices on the financial management component of the grants
- Familiarize yourself with Afghanistan tax law.
- Provide all tax-related documents to the relevant department on a monthly basis
- Maintain the filing system and file all support documents for country office finances;
- Any other tasks are given by the supervisor
- Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.

- Education
- University degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent
- Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working for INGO in finance, grants management positions,
- Experience in handling Donor and statutory audit
- Skills and Competencies
- Strong spreadsheet and data analysis advanced skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel, any accounting software, using SAGE INTACCT would be an advantage)
- Commitment to working in a conflict transformation organization and flexibility to respond to dynamic situations and ability to manage multiple activities at once
- A good team player and ready to work with a diverse team of employees
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of local languages (Pashto and Dari) will be an added advantage

$1,000 - $1,400 a month
