We are looking to hire an Associate Director of Creative Design to help us design, direct, and communicate our initiatives to consumers and companies worldwide. To thrive in this role, you must be a skilled visual designer, human-centered in your approach, and bring a portfolio that reflects the strong brand architecture, UX/UI expertise, and systems thinking.

What You Will Do

    • Lead a small team in the creative strategy, ideation, and execution of brand, marketing, and program initiatives. Guide/collaborate on the team's day-to-day work, giving them constructive feedback and coaching to elevate their work and present design to stakeholders.
    • Provide creative direction to ensure a cohesive, polished, and integrated visual identity and voice across our work and owned channels (i.e., website, social media, and digital content).
    • Support our thought leadership and program development by translating research insights, programmatic content, and complex ideas into user-friendly visualizations and compelling visual stories, balancing creativity, design thinking, and innovation.
    • Direct user-centric digital design experiences that span integrated marketing, training program materials, and research reports with strong data visualization and web. Bring a strong UX sensibility to all projects; recognize intended audiences and recommend creative strategies to reach them.
    • Manage and own any moments to improve the creative process, workflow, and capacity to deliver projects. Identify opportunities for ongoing organizational improvements (i.e., process, tools, training).
    • Identify projects that would benefit from a design-led strategy and get alignment from partners and leadership.
    • Be a shoulder-to-shoulder leader and coach who can roll up your sleeves to ideate, design, and art direction while guiding the team to deliver great work. When necessary, embrace creative conflict and transform problems into additive solutions.
    • Provide leadership, training, and knowledge in all online and digital experiences.
    • Direct and collaborate with in-house and external designers, video producers, photographers, & web developers, guiding them from conception to the final product.

What You Will Bring

    • A shared appreciation for and commitment to the mission and work of Lean In, Option B, and the Dave Goldberg Scholarship Program.
    • Commitment to being a strong advocate for equity, inclusion, and uplifting marginalized voices.
    • 8 years of professional experience including 5 years in brand, web, and digital environments, and 3 years of management experience.
    • Digital and content creative design skills in website, email, paid ads, social media, motion graphics, and video work.
    • Deep knowledge of brand architecture, visual design, and visual theory (i.e., composition, color theory, typography, etc.), a sharp eye for layout design, and a strong affinity for the latest design trends and digital media (e.g., accessibility, interactive workbooks,  etc.)
    • Significant experience with UX/UI design and useability testing.
    • Experience directing video production agencies and other outside collaborators.
    • Expertise in all creative tools (Adobe Suite, Figma, etc.).
    • Experience creating inclusive, culturally aware creative that speaks to diverse audiences.

Important Information

    • This is a full-time, managerial role with a schedule that would require availability to work Pacific Time zone hours.
    • This remote position includes the option of working a hybrid schedule for individuals based in the San Francisco Bay Area (Our office is located in Palo Alto, California).
    • Occasional travel is required to attend organization-wide offsites and events.
    • The selected individual must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
