We are looking for a Communications Lead to support our external communications team and help increase the public profile of LeanIn.Org and OptionB.Org. A successful Communications Lead will be an effective writer who is strong in drafting documents, conducting research, and detail-oriented with experience in process management. 
 
The ideal candidate is a creative thinker who is passionate about media and an avid consumer of it, has a strong point of view, as well as being a keen observer of the latest trends and outlets for our messages. Due to COVID-19, our team is working remotely (on PDT hours) through August 2022.  Long term we're planning to operate as a hybrid team, with some team members working in-person and some working remotely, depending on the nature of their role, their leadership responsibilities, and the composition of their team. For people who work in-person, we'll maintain our standard schedule of three in-office and two work-from-home days.

Responsibilities

    • Work cross-functionally with the communications team on day-to-day initiatives across press, social and email
    • Research, draft and distribute a range of material including reporter briefs, messaging, and press correspondence, while always keeping diversity, equity, inclusion top of mind in all aspect of the work
    • Lead daily news scans and draft/distribute written news roundups
    • Support the communications team in day-to-day operations including owning database management and news monitoring tools, drafting external notes to reporters, and supporting process management with external partners
    • Support communications team in day-to-day operations including pitching US and global media, scheduling interviews, and research on thought leaders, influencers, press and the media landscape at large 
    • Coordinate responses to incoming media inquiries and track relevant PR metrics
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate and develop plans and projects
    • Learn, follow through and improve upon foundation processes, set principal and exec team up for success

Requirements

    • 2 - 4 years of experience working in communications 
    • Strong writing skills with the ability to craft thoughtful, inclusive, and well-crafted communications (emails, messaging, talking points, etc.)
    • Highly organized and process-oriented with meticulous attention to detail
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines
    • Thrives on new challenges; background in public policy and/or women’s space a huge plus
    • Experience with senior executive staffing and prepping, as well as crisis and issue management communications is preferred
    • Fast learner with the ability to adapt quickly and juggle multiple competing priorities while  moving projects forward in a timely fashion
    • Experience with Google Office and Microsoft Office
    • Passion for the missions of Lean In, Option B, and the Dave Goldberg Scholarship Program
    • A strong advocate for equity, inclusion, and uplifting marginalized voices
    • Ability to learn, follow-through, and improve on foundation processes to set team and principal up for success
    • Available to consistently work PDT hours
