The Job:
- Work together with teams from different fields on important projects to make sure the processes and equipment are designed correctly.
- Check the technical specifications, find out what the designs need, and explain engineering ideas for solutions and systems.
- Make the technical specifications, find suppliers, and get quotes for the equipment and parts needed for projects.
- Check and sign electrical engineering documents (you need to have a valid engineering license).
- Supervise projects from start to finish, including the design, implementation, and launch phases.
- Work with the facilities team to provide technical support when necessary.
- Help create and update the plan for automating processes.
- Lead efforts to improve automation and make it work better.
- Keep in touch with equipment manufacturers to meet deadlines and stay within the budget.
- Communicate and coordinate with contractors to make sure they deliver what's needed
What we need from you:
- You'll need a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering to get in the game.
- At least 5 years of experience under your belt is a must.
- We're looking for someone with skills in industrial automation, controls, and data acquisition.
- You should be a pro at handling system schematics and rocking high-level system design.
- Familiarity with different industrial communication protocols like Modbus/RTU and TCP/IP is a big plus.
- Experience in designing motor control units (MCU) will definitely amp up your profile.
- If you've got a knack for designing explosion-proof systems, following those applicable standards, you'll fit right in.
- Being a member of the OIQ or having a P. Eng. designation will add some serious street cred.
- A solid understanding of safety integrity levels, according to the relevant standards (like IEC), is crucial.
- Knowing your way around electrical safety standards like CSA and UL is a major plus.
- And if you're comfortable working with CAD tools like Autocad Electrical or SEE Electrical, that's music to our ears.
