As a Senior Design Engineer you will be responsible for leading the mechanical design and development of ground systems for Shield AI's autonomous UAV products. You will help architect new products, perform the detailed design of electro-mechanical assemblies, and creatively solve problems to improve user experience. You will collaborate closely with internal and/or external partners to prototype, test and release products to production. You will also help ensure product features achieve performance, schedule and reliability goals. 

What you'll do:

    • Own the design and development of new products and subsystems.  
    • Perform analysis on designs including hand calculations, CAD, and FEA. 
    • Rapidly design, prototype and test to validate the robustness and proper performance of designs. 
    • Lead design reviews. 
    • Participate in engineering and pre-production product builds. 
    • Interface with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful development and launch of new products. 
    • Exemplify technical excellence and be accountable for your work. 

Required qualifications:

    • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent. 
    • Experience in design and deployment of products
    • Experience collaborating with industrial design
    • Demonstrated excellence in design for user experience
    • CAD modeling experience 
    • Working knowledge of FEA principles 
    • Familiarity with common manufacturing processes 
    • A demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others 

Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience working on cutting-edge autonomous robotic systems  
    • Proven background in thriving within fast-paced environments, particularly within startup or R&D settings 
    • Demonstrated adaptability, agility, and the ability to innovate under pressure to meet dynamic project demands and drive successful outcomes.
