Job Description:
The Tech II, CNC Programmer/Machinist is responsible for independently setting up, operating, and programming CNC machines to produce precision parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires intermediate-level skills in G-code programming, CNC setup, and machining operations, with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.

What You'll Do:

    • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to determine machining strategy.
    • Write and edit G-code programs at the machine or offline using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
    • Set up CNC machines (mills and/or lathes), including tooling, fixturing, and work offsets.
    • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other metrology tools.
    • Optimize speeds, feeds, and tool paths to improve part quality and cycle time.
    • Troubleshoot machining issues, perform minor maintenance, and recommend process improvements.
    • Maintain accurate records of setups, tooling lists, and process documentation (Set-up Sheets, NC Program Libraries).
    • Collaborate with engineers, quality, and other machinists to resolve manufacturing problems.
    • Maintain clean and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA safety standards.

Required Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or CNC certificate preferred.
    • 3–7 years of experience in CNC machining, including setup and basic G-code programming.
    • Proficient with CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or similar).
    • Able to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T symbols.
    • Familiar with machining aluminum, steel, and other metals.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
    • Exposure to 3+2 or 5-axis machining.
    • Familiarity with SPC, lean manufacturing, or ISO 9001 processes.
    • Knowledge of tool selection and cutting parameter optimization.
$27.74 - $41.61 an hour
