Canal’s mission is to help trusted brands sell more, their way. As our first Brand Designer, you will define and guide the development of Canal’s brand as we continue growing and evolving. This means working closely with both marketing and product to bring this vision to life and identify opportunities to express Canal’s uniqueness through visual, motion or written form. What You'll Do

    • Partner closely with marketing, product, and design to elevate our website, social media presence, sales decks, design system and more
    • Design templates and graphics for sales proposals, marketing guides, blog posts, documentation, presentations and other materials
    • Play a significant role in the evolution of our brand, voice, and strategy as Canal grows as a company and product
    • Tell Canal’s story - creating a variety of assets for our social and web presence, in-app marketing materials, and beyond
    • Create illustrations and diagrams for documentation to explain complex features, benefits and workflows for Sales, Marketing and Customer Success use
    • Work closely with our Product Designer to ensure a single look and feel extends across all Canal properties and collaborate on maintaining a single, dynamic shared design system in Figma
    • Be an active participant and leader in design critiques, providing thoughtful feedback across product and design teams

Qualifications

    • 5+ years of relevant work in a creative field - startup experience is a plus
    • Known for clear, direct communication (written and verbal) and collaborating well with a diverse set of interest groups (designers, executives)
    • Familiar with marketing technology platforms, operations and design tools: Social channel formats, Website design, Figma, Photoshop, Webflow, etc.
    • Expert in designing for a variety of mediums, including website, email, advertising, landing
    • Familiar with UI design & design systems
    • Comfortable creating across a gamut of assets - static image, basic animation, etc. If you don’t, you know how to find the right people or are eager to learn a new tool to get things done
    • Highly organized and have an eye for detail and craftsmanship, while understanding and not sacrificing deadlines and constraints
    • A portfolio that exhibits real passion for your craft and strong conceptual ability
    • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
    • Agile and easily adapt to change, constructive feedback, and evolving deadlines
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Design

Nice to Haves

    • Experience partnering with external agencies/contractors
    • Love for reflecting and writing about your process and POV
    • A flexible, can-do attitude that is eager for some start-up energy!
    • Experience in and/or a passion for e-commerce
    • Some non-agency/in house experience preferred
