Our Journey
ShopBack began in 2014 as a late-night spark of inspiration between Henry and Joel — not just to build a Cashback platform, but to reimagine how brands and consumers connect. As former advertisers, they understood the limitations of traditional marketing, and saw an opportunity to deliver more value on both sides. That idea quickly turned into action, with the first prototype built during a 24-hour sprint. Today, ShopBack serves over 50 million users across 13 markets, partners with 20,000+ merchants, and powers over half a million transactions daily. We're building The World’s Most Rewarding Way to Shop — and looking for bold, driven individuals to join us.

We are looking for an experienced Regional Tax Manager to lead and oversee all group tax matters at ShopBack. This role will be pivotal in shaping and executing our global tax strategy as we continue to expand rapidly across multiple jurisdictions, undergo changes in business models, engage in M&A activities and prepare for a future public listing. The ideal candidate is a forward-looking leader with strong technical expertise in taxation, coupled with the agility to navigate fast-evolving tech business environments. They should bring a balance of technical mastery, strategic thinking and leadership qualities while also embracing AI-driven tools and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

    • 1. Tax Strategy & Leadership
    • Define and implement a group-wide tax strategy aligned with business and financial objectives, ensuring scalability across multiple markets.
    • Advise the senior leadership on tax implications of strategic initiatives, including business model changes, geographic expansion, M&A and IPO readiness.
    • Develop robust frameworks for direct, indirect and transfer pricing taxation

    • 2. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
    • Oversee compliance with global tax laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions, including corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax and transfer pricing with the support of external tax advisors
    • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant tax filings across the group.
    • Lead the development of strong tax governance and risk management frameworks
    • Partner with external tax advisors to mitigate tax controversies.

    • 3. Innovation & Technology
    • Champion the use of AI and automation tools in tax reporting and compliance monitoring
    • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve tax efficiency, transparency, and decision-making.
    • Stay ahead of evolving digital tax regulations (e.g., e-invoicing, digital services taxes, OECD Pillar 1 & 2).

    • 4. People & Stakeholder Management
    • Act as the primary representative of the tax function to regulators, external advisors and senior leadership.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-standard culture with finance internal stakeholders and commercial leaders

Requirements

    • 1. Experience
    • 10+ years of progressive tax experience, with exposure to regional or global leadership roles.
    • Proven track record in managing complex tax structures in multinational, high-growth tech or digital companies.
    • Experience in M&A transactions, IPO preparation and cross-border structuring.

    • 2. Technical & Functional Skills
    • Deep knowledge of international taxation, transfer pricing, indirect taxes and tax treaty frameworks.
    • Strong understanding of emerging digital tax regulations and IPO-readiness requirements.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite) and tax technology tools.

    • 3. Soft Skills
    • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent leadership, change management and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Ability to influence and inspire senior executives, regulators and cross-functional teams.
    • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, multicultural and evolving environment.
