The Opportunity: Staff Accountant 
As  SigFig’s next Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in recording daily transactions, supporting month-end close processes,  maintaining financial procedures, and confirming compliance through preparation of quality financial reports. This position requires attention to detail, efficiency, and advanced analytical and excel skills. As a staff accountant you will be expected to  support your accounting team on a daily basis, during audits, and ad hoc projects. You will work with a senior accountant and report directly to our Controller/Director of Accounting.

You will truly enjoy what they do, be flexible and communicative, and relish learning new things. This role will have cross-functional interaction to drive strategies down to execution while keeping up the pace of SigFig. This is you!

Responsibilities

    • Assist in daily data entry for cash and credit cards
    • Assist with day-to-day, monthly, and year-end operations of the accounting and finance department
    • Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, journal entries, accruals, prepayment amortization, and bank reconciliation
    • Prepare financial reporting including internal reports and financial analysis
    • Assist with continuous process improvement and development of automated systems including implementation and enhancements to AR/Billing tools
    • Processing and payment of vendor invoices, ensuring accurate allocation in accordance with GAAP
    • You'll work closely with the Accounting team and other cross-functional stakeholders in general corporate accounting matters and ad hoc projects as needed
    • Streamline existing policies, processes, controls, and recommend value-adding changes; initiate, assist, and implement automation whenever possible

Ideal SigFigian for this Role

    • 2+ years of accounting experience (CPA is a plus, not required)
    • You are efficient, tech-savvy and strong in Excel
    • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Quickbooks Online and Concur Expense)
    • The ability to work independently in a team environment and prioritize deadlines, previous start-up experience is a plus
    • You're always looking for ways to improve how we operate and have excellent organizational skills and an eye for detail
    • Quick and relentless learner that's not afraid to dive into complex projects and high-volume transactional processing that requires critical thinking 
    • Able to work cross-functionally and hungry to learn and grow and define the culture of a company
