The Company

Silvus is a rapidly-growing high-tech entrepreneurial company in the heart of West Los Angeles. The company delivers the most technologically advanced Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (MANET) solution to multiple markets including: Law Enforcement; Unmanned Systems; and Military, among others. Along with its successful MANET product line, the company also delivers on ground breaking research in the area of wireless data communications. The company has experienced rapid growth over the past 12 months and is expecting the rate of growth to continue with the introduction of new products and services. 

The Wireless System Test Engineer will develop testing infrastructure, perform comprehensive testing and vetting of Silvus’ MANET radios and other wireless products under development.

Must be a U.S. person, U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
Employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check.

Duties and Responsibilities

    • The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion:
    • Wireless communication system test station design, implementation, and maintenance.
    • Design and implement testing software for automated testing and logging.
    • Work closely with the rest of the R&D team to understand performance requirements and expected system behaviors, validate and troubleshoot new designs, and prepare them for rollout to production.
    • Perform lab testing using wireless channel emulators and other instruments.
    • Perform field testing to qualify system performance in a practical environment.
    • Perform other related duties of which the above is representative, as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

    • Minimum Education
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or other related technical fields.
    • Minimum Experience
    • Experience in developing automated testing software using C/C++, Python, or other languages.
    • Experience in testing embedded systems, preferably radio communication systems.
    • Experience in R&D wireless communication systems.
    • Experience with RF instruments such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and channel emulators.
    • Skills Required
    • Proficient in C/C++, Matlab, or Python.
    • Proficient in both Windows and Linux operations.

Travel Requirements

    • Infrequent domestic travel away from the office, including overnight.

Working Conditions

    • Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests and/or demonstrations in the field.

Compensation Range: $70 - $90k
