SENIOR ACCOUNTANTS PERFORM MOST WORK ASSIGNED WITH A MINIMUM OF ASSISTANCE. THEY OFTEN LEAD ONE OR MORE ASSISTANTS, INSTRUCT THEM IN WORK TO BE PERFORMED, REVIEW THE WORK DONE, AND DIRECT NECESSARY REVISIONS. SENIORS ARE REQUIRED TO MAKE DECISIONS ON ALL BUT THE MOST UNUSUAL ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING MATTERS.

Responsibilities

    • Extensive experience with FAS109 tax accounting, including tax accounting for stock based compensation/FIN48.
    • Performs diversified accounting, auditing, and tax assignments under the direction of supervisor, manager or partner.
    • Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and Firm standards.
    • Meets time constraints and client deadlines.
    • Participates in planning and scheduling client engagements.
    • Directs and instructs assistants, where applicable, in work to be performed and working paper review.
    • Determines the extent of test-checking required in an audit and selects the transactions to be tested.
    • Prepares and indexes working papers; performs various procedures established under generally accepted accounting principles to verify accuracy and validity of client’s financial matters.
    • Prepares complicated tax returns, and returns on dissolution or liquidation.
    • Suggests client tax planning ideas to supervisor, manager, or Partner.
    • Prepares routine correspondence to client for approval and signature of a Partner; writes comments for management letters.
    • Drafts reports including footnotes.
    • Proactively takes ownership of projects, seeing them through to ultimate completion & delivery to client.
    • Performs the broadest range of accountant tasks so that direct participation of supervisors, managers, or Partners is kept to a minimum.

Qualifications

    • THIS POSITION REQUIRES A BACHELOR’S DEGREE (OR FOREIGN EQUIVALENT) IN ACCOUNTING, FINANCE, OR IN A CLOSELY RELATED FIELD, PLUS 4 YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE JOB OFFERED OR CLOSELY RELATED OCCUPATION.

    • IN THE ALTERNATIVE, THE EMPLOYER WILL ACCEPT A MASTER’S DEGREE (OR FOREIGN EQUIVALENT) IN ACCOUNTING, FINANCE, OR IN A CLOSELY RELATED FIELD, PLUS 3 YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE JOB OFFERED, OR CLOSELY RELATED OCCUPATION.

Special Requirements

    • EXPERTISE/ KNOWLEDGE OF:

    • 1.       Public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of auditing and accounting tasks and tax knowledge.
    • 2.       Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, PivotTable and formatting excel charts.
    • 3.       Accounting and tax software like Quickbooks, CCH, Lacerte, BNA, Caseware, Sureprep, etc.
    • 4.       Review financial statements according to accounting principles GAAP and propose adjusting entries.
    • 5.       Research complex tax issues using internal revenue code and other tax research software like BNA, etc.
    • 6.       Review of tax regulations to compliance with federal and state tax laws.
    • 7.       Tax reconciliations including resolving financial statements discrepancies.
    • 8.       Prepare quarterly and annually tax planning for proper payments of federal and state taxes.
$100,589 - $111,000 a year
This is a nonexempt position. Overtime is paid at time and a half of hourly rate.
MUST POSSESS EXPERTISE/ KNOWLEDGE SUFFICIENT TO ADEQUATELY PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB BEING OFFERED. EXPERTISE/ KNOWLEDGE MAY BE GAINED THROUGH EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE OR EDUCATION. SUCH EXPERTISE/ KNOWLEDGE CANNOT BE "QUANTIFIED" BY "TIME."

Salary: $100,589 - $111,000 per year
