Artificial intelligence (AI) forms one of the key pillars of our platform. Sirona’s Head of AI will lead our research efforts across the fields of computer vision, natural language processing and knowledge representation. This role will involve working with leaders across the business to understand challenges that can be solved through innovative AI/ML-based solutions, defining research roadmaps, and delivering on AI capabilities to power innovative features in our platform. The Head of AI will report directly to Sirona’s Chief Technical Officer.

Requirements

    • PhD in computer science, computational linguistics, computer vision or related field or equivalent professional experience
    • 10+ years hands-on experience with natural language processing, computer vision or knowledge representation 
    • 5+ years in leadership positions directly managing research scientists and AI/ML engineers
    • A strong record of delivering machine learning and/or data products including defining ML problems, identifying data strategy, building MVPs, and scaling prototypes to production solutions
    • Familiarity and proficiency with agile methods and tools to support project management in a timeline sensitive environment
    • Academic or professional experience in the biomedical domain
    • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
    • Strong history of recruiting and coaching technical teams

Preferred Requirements

    • Experience with ontologies and knowledge graphs
    • Publications in relevant NLP, machine learning or computer vision journals
    • Background in radiological medicine
