The Assistant Production Accountant directly supports the Production Accountants of various film productions. The primary responsibility of the position is to manage the show Smart Accounting System and all cost uploads and vendor payments.

Responsibilities

    • Process efile paperwork and maintain files accurately and timely
    • Support Payroll Manager with weekly EP Payroll processing and posting
    • Manage show to show crew transfers with HR and other team members with Staffing Profile changes
    • Assist with onboarding crew members from other shows or new hires
    • Accounts Payable, including Vendor Setup in Smart Accounting and online wire transfers
    • Help reconcile monthly credit card statements and show Cashet System
    • Maintain monthly journal entries (non-union payroll, banking and studio paid costs)
    • Comply with all procedures for Invoices, Checks and Timecard approvals
    • Elevate problems to Production Accountants when necessary
    • Provide Production Accountants with possible solutions to problems presented
    • Identify possible job efficiencies
    • Process billbacks
    • Work within the corporate accounting system (Intacct) to book entries and reconciliation.
    • Consistently communicate professionally, clearly, concisely, timely and accurately with Production Accountants, Vendors, Casting, HR, Payroll and Production Employees
    • Collaborate with SDA Finance team on ad hoc assignments
    • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and security of confidential payroll data
    • Highly organized, flexible, team player
    • Strong communication skills

Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Animation process/Animation industry experience
    • Working knowledge of union pay requirements (e.g., Local 839, Local 700, SAG)
    • Proficiency in Excel and Smart Accounting is a MUST

Education Requirements

    • Five years Payroll accounting experience, especially working with Entertainment Partners
    • Comfortable working in Excel and EP Smart Accounting

The hourly range for this non-exempt position in Santa Monica is $31.25 per hour ($65k annual) to $43.27 per hour ($90k annual).
