Leads a team/group of modeling artists on a show. Ensures the quality, technical deliveries, and deadlines are met. Contributes to scheduling, technical proposals, and workflow for a show and the studio.


    • Lead the character modeling team to deliver high-quality models aligning with the project's artistic vision and technical requirements.
    • Assist with design and downstream departments in planning and implementing assets into our pipeline.
    • Work closely with art director, supervisors, and character designers to drive and invent our artistic vision.
    • Assist in planning asset production in collaboration with the downstream departments.
    • Mentor and lead the character team to help them grow professionally.
    • Creative vision to take a character to completion from either a detailed or simple concept image.
    • Creates and leads visual development sculptures and production models of characters.
    • Consistently meets project deadlines promptly without compromising artistic integrity. 
    • Works collaboratively with all levels of the production team.
    • Able to contribute to, interpret, and clearly communicate the art direction to the team.
    • Proven problem-solving and prototyping ability.
    • Exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette regarding modeling.
    • Work closely with the Rigging, Surfacing, Sim and Animation departments ensure models are working accordingly traveling down the pipeline.
    • Follows Character Modeling Supervisor’s and Character Supervisors guidance.
    • Contribute to the development of character pipeline and modeling guidelines.
    • Coordinate with the Char Modeling Supervisor and production team to manage deliverables, ensuring that milestones and deadlines are met.
    • Proven ability to mentor effectively.
    • Able to work creatively as part of a large or small group.
    • Create meetings, set agendas, and run them
    • Communicate forecasted delays or issues to the production team, and work with the supervisor and production to create solutions and timelines.
    • Leads the team providing them with support, guidance and instruction in areas that contribute towards their artistic and professional growth, making sure all the assets follow the quality standards and artistic direction and that achieves the deadlines.
    • Provide feedback to the team and review artist’s work. Makes a first evaluation of the modeling artist's work, making sure all the assets follow the quality standards and artistic direction.
    • Assist meetings without the supervisor and report the conclusions to the supervisor and production team.
    • Meet regularly with another department leads to discuss challenges.
    • Carry out testing of tools developed for the department
    • Self-motivated, with high initiative, communication skills, and a great team-player attitude. Self-sufficient with minimal intervention.


    • 6+ years in VFX, Animation, and similar industries. 
    • 1+ years of being a Lead in  Feature Animation industry.
    • An understanding of creating and managing universal meshes. Understanding methodologies and industry standards.
    • Great understanding of facial/body construction, proportions, and physique.
    • Specializing in organic forms and hard surface modeling using Maya, and Zbrush.
    • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
    • Intimate understanding of new asset creation pipelines and tools.
    • High English level desirable.
    • Spanish desirable.

    • Plus:
    • The ability to use and present in Arnold and or Renderman
    • The ability to use and present in Substance. 
    • The ability to use Marvelous
    • An understanding of Rigging and requirements for the rigging workflow.
