Software Engineer - Manufacturing

As a member of the Skydio software platform team, you will be responsible for creating robust, maintainable, infrastructure and systems that enable us to build and test complex consumer hardware at scale. You will work closely with the production team to design, deploy, and support software that implements modern manufacturing approaches and improves production efficiency through well architected systems and tools.

How you will make an impact:

    • Build systems for orchestrating device testing, process control, and data collection
    • Create debugging tools and applications for interacting with data from the manufacturing process
    • Develop new tests to ensure full coverage on all hardware systems
    • Integrate third party applications with test software to provide better manufacturing resource planning and situational awareness across the company
    • Manage automated deployments to the manufacturing line
    • Use data and feedback from the production team to develop processes and implement the software tools needed to improve our manufacturing capabilities
    • Develop test infrastructure and systems that can be implemented by 3rd party partners while maintaining quality, data collection, and full part/test traceability

Requirements:

    • Solid software engineering foundation and a commitment to writing clean, well architected code with appropriate abstraction boundaries and attention to detail
    • High proficiency in Python and/or C++
    • Ability to extract and analyze data from relational databases using SQL queries
    • Familiarity with Linux operating system configuration and build tools
    • Willingness to take ownership of projects and problems and drive them to fully implemented solution

Useful skills:

    • Experience with modern manufacturing software systems and quality metrics
    • Experience developing automated software/hardware tests
    • Management and design of relational databases (Postgres, MySQL)
    • Experience building scalable web-based software systems
    • Familiarity with cloud service offerings (AWS, GCP), deployment techniques, and configuration management
    • Experience with software and configuration deployment and orchestration tools (Ansible, Chef)
