At Skyways, we are building a new form of air transportation—what some call the flying car. Backed by fresh funding and a major STRATFI contract from the U.S. Air Force, we’re uniquely positioned to lead the next wave of aviation innovation. Our fully autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) represent a breakthrough opportunity to move goods—and soon, people—in ways that are faster, safer, and more efficient than ever before. Unlike anyone else in the industry, our strategy blends rapid iteration with real-world deployment, and it’s already paying off.

Skyways is a fast-growing startup based in Austin, TX, supported by top Silicon Valley investors including Y Combinator. Though we’re early-stage, our vehicles are already in production and in the hands of paying commercial customers (see here and here). With robust financial backing and government partnerships accelerating our momentum, there’s never been a better time to join us and help build the future of transportation!

You will plan and execute missions, train operators, troubleshoot in real time, and provide insights that inform engineering and product development.

This is a highly customer facing role where you will often work side by side with operators to capture aerial data, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure every mission succeeds. Travel is a key part of the role, taking you to customer sites across the country and occasionally abroad. Between deployments, you will help refine training, safety procedures, and operational best practices.

What You’ll Do:

    • Plan, execute, and document aircraft flights to meet customer operational needs.
    • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections and ensure compliance with FAA regulations.
    • Train and support customers on safe and effective aircraft operation.
    • Travel regularly to customer sites for deployments, demonstrations, and on site support.
    • Provide operational feedback to engineering and product teams to improve systems.
    • Ensure every customer mission is successful and safe.

What You’ll Bring:

    • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
    • Experience flying drones (non-DJI) for commercial purposes.
    • Strong knowledge of airspace, flight safety, and regulations.
    • Excellent communication and customer engagement skills.
    • Ability to adapt quickly in dynamic, real world flight environments.
    • Current FAA Third Class Medical or the ability to obtain one.

Bonus Points If You Have:

    • Experience with large (>55 lb AUW) UAVs.
    • Experience with ArduPilot or PX4 UAVs.
    • FAA Part 61 certificate(s).
    • Background in aviation or aerospace.
    • Instructional experience in an aviation or other technical context.
    • Technical skills in maintenance, troubleshooting, or data processing.
