What Your Experience Will Be:
As a Staff Accountant at Slang.ai, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing financial processes to ensure smooth financial operations across the company. This role involves handling accounting, billing, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, commissions, and other finance-related activities while working cross-functionally with the Finance, Revenue Operations, and People teams. You will be responsible for preparing accounting entries and account reconciliations, particularly in areas such as revenue recognition, accounts receivable, and deferred revenue.
Additionally, you will own and manage billing and collections operations in Stripe, oversee payroll processing and commission calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies, and work closely with external accountants and finance teams to support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Beyond core accounting tasks, you will maintain financial records, assist in audits, and ensure compliance with financial regulations while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance financial workflows, automation, and reporting. You will support various finance projects, reporting requests, and process improvements as needed. Reporting to the Finance Director, an experienced leader focused on scaling financial operations in high-growth companies, you will work with modern finance tools such as Stripe, QuickBooks, Ramp, Rippling, and HubSpot to drive efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.

What Success Looks Like
- Accurate and timely financial processing: All billing, payments, payroll, and commissions are processed smoothly and in a timely manner
- Optimized finance workflows: You identify and implement process improvements and automation to streamline financial operations.
- Data accuracy and compliance: All financial data is audit-ready, reconciled, and compliant with regulations.
- Cross-functional collaboration: You work closely with Finance, Revenue Operations, and People teams to drive seamless financial execution.
- Proactive problem-solving: You identify financial risks, inefficiencies, and discrepancies early and take proactive steps to resolve them
What you will bring
- 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting
- Hands-on experience managing billing, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR).
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing and commission calculations.
- Experience with reconciliation, reporting, and financial data accuracy.
- Proficiency in financial tools (e.g., Stripe, QuickBooks, Ramp, Rippling, HubSpot).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate financial records.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet financial deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
$95,000 - $110,000 a year
