Slate is hiring an operations and executive assistant to join its Brooklyn office. The assistant’s primary responsibilities will be to manage the office and provide daily administrative support to Slate’s leadership team including our CEO, our president and CRO, and other executives on a case-by-case basis. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a busy leadership team, award-winning journalists, podcast creators, and industry-leading design, business, and technology professionals. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is curious, personable, and proactive.
Candidates must be able to work from our Brooklyn offices at least three days per week. This role reports to Slate’s HR and operations manager. The annual base pay range for this job is between $48,000 and $55,000.
Key responsibilities:
      Bring your energy and ideas to create a supportive, inclusive, and fun employee experience
      Ensure the office is welcoming and well-stocked at all times, including organizing mail, purchasing supplies and refreshments, and light tidying, such as running and unloading the dishwasher
      Serve as Slate’s main point of contact for anyone entering the office, including external guests and vendors as well as building management
      Manage the calendars for Slate’s chief executive officer and Slate’s president and chief revenue officer, acting as the point of contact between the executives and internal/external partners
      Prepare and file expense reports and plan travel for the executive team
      Plan and execute various company events and initiatives, including charitable projects, company retreats, and other company events
      Provide support to the editorial teams including onboarding new freelancers, preparing pitch memos for meetings, and various other administrative tasks

      Proven ability to adapt, prioritize, problem-solve, and work efficiently in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision
      Sharp attention to detail and organized at all times
      Top-notch communication and interpersonal skills
      Must have the ability to maintain high level of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality
