We’re looking for brilliant junior programmers to join our Engineering team in Helsinki.

Smartly Squad is a paid internship with a steep learning curve. In this role, you will work as a full-fledged member of our Engineering team and take ownership and responsibility of your own work. Your team will help you hone your professional skills.

As a Software Developer in the Smartly Squad, you will:

    • Like any other developer as, get hands on with building a software product for the largest online advertisers globally.
    • Work closely with your team of bright and nice colleagues.
    • Add to your technical skill set and maximize your learning.
    • Develop your professional skills and learn fast in this role.
    • Provide technical support to our customers (all Smartlies do).

What we are looking for:

    • We're mainly looking for students in their 3rd year or higher, as well as recent graduates.
    • You have previous work experience under your belt or an extensive portfolio of your own hobby projects.
    • Preferably you would continue with us as a full-time or part-time employee after the internship.
    • Previous experience in developing web applications with JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, AngularJS, Ruby on Rails, Node.js, MongoDB, or PostgreSQL.
    • English is the main language of the company, so fluent written and spoken English is a must.
What to expect from our recruitment process

1. First meeting: before diving deeper into your tech skills, we want to know who you are and what motivates you. This is also an opportunity for you to learn more about

2. Technical interview: we’ll discuss various areas from frontend development to networks, security, and development methods. We’re trying to get a clear overview of your skills and where you could learn more. We don’t expect anyone to be an expert in everything.

3. Coding exercise: we’ll be pair programming a simple a Node.js app to make sure that you can also work with code. Previous experience with Node.js is not necessarily required, as the session will be very interactive.

4. Meet your future team to learn what they are working with. After that, the final interview with our Engineering leads.
