We are currently looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join our Braga team!
This is a great opportunity to join Smith Micro Software, a NASDAQ company that creates software products and services to simplify, secure, and enhance the mobile experience. We have offices in Braga, Aliso Viejo, Pittsburgh, Stockholm and Belgrade.
Working with a team of talented engineers developing products and projects on different technologies that are shipped worldwide (iOS, Android, web single page apps, cloud based backend solutions), your primary focus will be the development of backend based technology on SafePath, the flagship product of the company which is currently deployed in mobile carriers across the globe with implementations currently live in North America and Europe.

Main Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and test backend-based solutions using primarily Java EE (and Go).
- Interact with internal stakeholders and other teams to clarify technical requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Participate in code and design reviews of the engineering team.
- Develop unit tests, update and run test plans, and work on bug fixing.
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
- 2+ year of experience with Java and backend development technologies.
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject.
- Good understanding of the full backend development life cycle and associated patterns.
- Experience with Java programming language and frameworks.
- Experience with RESTful services development.
- Experience with DBMS systems.
- Experience integrating with 3rd party systems.
- Good English speaking and writing skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience developing Java EE based solutions.
- Experience developing Go based solutions.
- Experience in server profiling, performance and scability.
- Experience developing with JavaScript, HTML and CSS
- Basic experience with Linux OS based distributions.
- Basic experience deploying and managing cloud based environments (AWS is preferred).
- Basic experience with continuous integration and agile methodologies.
- Experience with Docker or other container based technology is a plus.
