Head of Information Security
What are you looking for in your next Security role? If your checklist includes the following, then we should talk:
- Security hire #1
- Own and shape the security function
- Seat at the leadership table
- Rapidly growing startup with significant traction against a massive market opportunity
Rapidly growing startup with significant traction against a massive market opportunity
Snapdocs is an early-stage technology platform, backed by blue-chip venture capital firms like Sequoia Capital, YCombinator (YC14), Founders Fund, and SV Angel. We are tackling the $1.75 trillion U.S. mortgage market, developing modern software for an industry that still relies on fax machines and manila envelopes. We bring security (that’s where you come in), efficiency, and ultimately a better home buying experience to a paper-based pillar of the US economy.
We are looking for our first security hire and it is no hyperbole to say this will be the most important hire we make this year. You will own security. All of it.
Your main objectives will be to ensure that Snapdocs is the most secure platform in real estate closings, that we are recognized as such (i.e. there will be a real public/customer facing component to your role), and that we have an internal culture that embeds security into every decision. Your most immediate responsibility will be to interrogate everything about our app flow, retention, and process to identify risks associated with how we provide our service, and navigate us through a security audit. Ultimately you will be charged with ensuring we have all the necessary policies to protect our business, thinking through all of the potential vulnerabilities in our technology and processes. As you get fully acclimated to our business, technology, and challenges, you will build your function, replacing our current security consulting firm with security engineers and any other resources as needs dictate.
Our ideal candidate is a product/business-minded thinker who can think critically about what security means to Snapdocs and the specific challenges posed by our application and users. You have held a series of escalating InfoSec roles, with at least some of that experience gained with B2B/enterprise SaaS products. You must have run or been through a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audit and have experience working with sensitive personal information on an application with many users. Experience in Product or Engineering will be very helpful (though not strictly necessary) in this role. Ability to lead cross-functionally (this role will touch every piece of the organization), patience (communicating security to security novices), bias for action (we’re a startup), presentation skills, and attention to detail (of course!), will be the foundational attributes that will set you up for success in this role.
Snapdocs’ culture is one that strongly values diversity and drive. We want to work with people of different backgrounds and different paths in life, and we trust our team members to make smart decisions. This means we value independent work as well as collaboration. We provide excellent benefits (including a 10-year exercise window on your options!) and our location in the heart of the Financial District in SF is super convenient.
