Summary:   We are looking for a purpose-driven Packaging/System Engineer to lead packaging innovation and performance for our entire supply chain. This role plays a critical part in packaging innovations, improving OEE, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting new line start-ups, line extensions, and the automation of manual processes —all while upholding So Good So You’s mission-driven values.

What You'll Do: As a Packaging System Engineer, you’ll be responsible for leading packaging line performance, packaging design, automation, and innovation in our beverage manufacturing environment. You’ll:

    • Design packaging that works efficiently across both automated and manual packing environments—balancing sustainability, usability, and throughput.
    • Optimize and automate manual and semi-automated packaging processes to improve efficiency, reduce labor, and eliminate waste.
    • Collaborate with Marketing on packaging format, branding elements, and consumer experience to ensure product and packaging alignment with market strategy.
    • Develop and launch sustainable, functional packaging solutions aligned with HPP requirements, brand aesthetics, and environmental goals.
    • Lead and execute new packaging systems, line start-ups, and packaging extensions, ensuring smooth integration with existing operations.
    • Troubleshoot equipment issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
    • Monitor and improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), driving initiatives to address availability, performance, and quality losses.
    • Lead and support capital projects, including layout planning, equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and documentation.Partner cross-functionally with QA, R&D, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to ensure product integrity and traceability.Champion sustainability at every step, integrating So Good So You’s zero-waste and renewable energy commitments into packaging and system design.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
    • 3–7 years of experience in food manufacturing, with a strong focus on packaging systems, packaging design, and line performance.
    • Proven experience in:Automating and optimizing manual processes
    • Troubleshooting and maintaining packaging equipmentLeading new packaging line start-ups, extensions, and equipment upgrades
    • Designing packaging compatible with automated and manual packing lines
    • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and FDA regulatory requirements.
    • Proficiency in CAD/design tools and PLC-based control systems.

    • Preferred:
    • High Pressure Processing (HPP)Experience with eco-friendly, recyclable, or compostable packaging.
    • Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC, SMED, 5S).Experience with ERP/MES systems in manufacturing.
    • Spanish language proficiency—ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking team members is a strong plus.
$90,000 - $120,000 a year
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
In accordance with Minnesota's Pay Transparency Law (effective January 1, 2025), the salary range for this position is [see above].
