HASH – Product Engineering
// ABOUT HASH
HASH is dedicated to solving information-failure. We're building new technology that aims to enable rapid, accurate simulation of complex adaptive systems, allowing for better human decision-making, and more efficient machine-allocation of resources.
This position is based at our London office, but we are open to remote applicants who may also wish to work from elsewhere. HASH is seeking front-end engineers to build the web interface to our simulation platform. We are a tech startup in the midst of a marathon product build. We treat our people well, provide strong benefits (fully comprehensive healthcare, etc), and have tons of experience cultivating and growing successful teams.
We're currently in private beta and our product, HASH, is written to make strong use of many emerging web technologies, especially WebAssembly and WebWorkers, but also IndexDB and the File API. Our front-end is written using TypeScript and React.js@tip using modern conventions (hooks & functional components), and deployed as a single-page web app, hosted in S3.
I'm Jude, co-founder and CTO @ HASH. Previously I was CTO at Fog Creek Software (see our creations Stack Overflow; Trello; Glitch), where most recently I contributed heavily to the Glitch.com front-end. I'm looking to hire a team of front-end engineers, one with a stronger design/UX focus and another with a stronger front-end engineering/architecture focus, to take over leadership on the front-end. I hope to bring you onto our team, train you on what's been accomplished so far, then trust you to take on product leadership for the front-end of HASH while we support you with product vision and coaching.
There are some specific skills we're seeking, however these are guidelines, and not a mold. If you'd be excited to grow with a young startup and take on product leadership roles whilst working on modern web tech, then we'd be excited to speak with you. Please apply through this form, or reach me directly at email@example.com if you have any questions. Thanks! :-)
We're looking for someone who has...
- Strong (2+ years) experience with modern web frameworks, especially React.
- The ability to produce modern UI/UX for the web.
- The ability to find and fix bugs and UI/UX issues in your own code.
- The ability communicate kindly and articulately, so that you can work effectively with your team.
Please include a resume and a cover letter expressing your interest in working with HASH. Your application will be reviewed directly by me, Jude (CTO), or David (CEO).
We'll be looking for a track record of success building and/or designing web applications, evidence of your initiative in using modern web technologies, and an indication that your work aspires to "best practices" (as defined fuzzily by the React & Web communities 😉).
P.S., If you're not sure you meet the exact requirements, but you're excited... apply anyway or email me. Maybe we'll have another position for you, and it'll be great to start to get to know you.
HASH is headquartered in Manhattan (New York), but we have a small (and growing) presence in London. You'll be based here, at Aldwych House, in the heart of central London.

We're looking for brilliant independent workers with a proven track record of building stuff, and a passionate belief in our mission. At the moment we're a small team, spun out of Soho Strategy, an evidence-based, data-driven consultancy here in London (England).
We've raised from top-tier VCs and investors including Joel Spolsky (the founder of Stack Overflow, Trello and Glitch) and Anthony Goldbloom (founder of Kaggle).
We're looking to hire deeply passionate folk excited to tackle complex problems on a daily basis. You'll be one of our first hires, and will receive a competitive base salary, plus the chance to contribute to the growth of a genuinely exciting piece of technology still in its infancy.
