Our client, a fast-growing emerging growth technology company, is seeking an agile and business-oriented Deputy General Counsel of Commercial to join its small, high-impact legal team. The company is backed by marquee investors including Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and Valor Capital Group and has built an autonomous, on-demand logistics network that will revolutionize the delivery industry. The company is currently in Series G and growing rapidly in the U.S.
The DGC of Commercial will report directly to the General Counsel and will play a key role in supporting the company’s dynamic B2B, marketplace, and direct-to-consumer initiatives. This attorney will lead the commercial function, including supply chain and IP licensing, and will be the lead lawyer on all sales and business development agreements and partnerships, working closely with the Sales Team across several core business verticals. They will have the opportunity to build the commercial team as the company scales and sales volume increases.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, negotiate, and close key customer, partnership, and supply chain agreements.
- Develop and scale efficient, reliable deal processes that support business growth.
- Create and refine templates, playbooks, and policies aligned with company and customer needs.
- Tackle complex and strategic transactions with creative, practical contract solutions.
Qualifications
- J.D. and active bar membership in good standing.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in a top law firm and/or in-house legal team.
- Proven experience supporting sales, product, and engineering teams.
- Deep expertise in negotiating commercial and supply chain contracts.
- Strong communication and project management skills to drive deals to close.
- Ability to draft complex agreements from scratch and adapt to new legal challenges.
- Business-savvy judgment, empathy for stakeholders, and confidence in decision-making, with the discernment to escalate when needed.
The base salary range for this role is $225,000–$240,000, including discretionary bonuses and substantial stock option grants. This is a high-growth, innovative company offering a strong leadership opportunity for a professional looking to take the next step in their career. The role is based at the company’s South San Francisco headquarters, with a preference for in-office presence and flexibility as needed.
