Position Overview
As our first HR representative on the ground, you’ll play a hands-on role in setting up HR operations, partnering closely with leadership and employees. While this role will begin without direct reports, you’ll have the opportunity to help grow the team over time, laying the groundwork for an HR function that is both trusted and future-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HR operations, including onboarding, documentation, compliance, and HR system management, with a focus on making every interaction smooth and consistent.
- Keep a proactive pulse on legal and regulatory updates, ensuring we stay compliant and ahead of any changes.
- Partner with local leadership and global HR teams to create processes that scale with the business without losing our human touch.
- Support the creation and delivery of learning programs that help employees grow both personally and professionally.
- Work with teams to identify skills gaps and development needs, then proactively connect employees with resources and opportunities.
- Help new hires feel genuinely welcomed and supported through thoughtful onboarding experiences.
- Nurture a learning culture where feedback, curiosity, and growth are part of everyday life.
- Collaborate with leadership to administer fair and motivating compensation, benefits, and recognition programs.
- Ensure that rewards are aligned with local market standards and reflect the value we place on our people.
- Support performance management programs that are transparent, actionable, and empowering.
- Celebrate wins — big and small — helping to create a culture where people feel seen and appreciated.
- Be a trusted partner for employees and managers, offering thoughtful guidance, a listening ear, and clear, consistent support.
- Help foster a workplace where every employee feels respected, heard, and valued.
- Handle employee concerns with empathy, discretion, and fairness, always working toward positive outcomes.
- Actively support managers in creating strong, healthy teams through coaching and proactive HR partnership.
Key Requirements
- 6–8 years of broad HR generalist experience, with at least 2 years supporting start-up or high-growth environments.
- Experience working with a non-India based headquarters and flexibility to manage relationships in different time zones.
- Solid knowledge of Indian labor laws and HR best practices.
- Experience mentoring or leading HR teams is a plus — even if you haven't had direct reports yet.
- Track record of setting up HR foundations from scratch, with a genuine passion for people and process improvement.
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable taking initiative and finding practical solutions in a fast-moving environment.
- Fluency in the English language - spoken and written
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHRi) are a plus.
