Role Summary
As a Principal Threat Intelligence Analyst supporting our Managed Detection and response (MDR) Team, you will leverage your experience, skills, and cybersecurity knowledge of the threat actor landscape to convert threat data into actionable intelligence information to ultimately better protect our customers from evolving threats. A primary focus of this role will be to lead the growth of Sophos’ adversarial threat intelligence capability extensively tracking eCrime threat groups targeting our customers.
What You Will Do
- 6+ years of professional experience as a Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst or similar incident response role with an intelligence component
- Expert in building and maintaining collection on eCrime operators to produce actionable intelligence for both tactical and strategic consumption
- Must be collaborative in approach, open to new ideas, with a willingness to mentor
- Experience in developing yara rules and VTI advanced features
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, for delivery briefings to varied audiences of technical and managerial stakeholders
- Flexibility to rapidly pivot priorities based on emerging threats
- Experience analyzing large amounts of unstructured global telemetry for insights
- Experience leveraging MITRE ATT&CK categorization to align observed threat actor activity to Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs)
- Experience applying the Intelligence Lifecycle and Diamond Model of Intrusion Analysis
- Experience working directly with Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs)
- Experience with Python, jupyter notebooks, sql, regex, and sigma
- BA or BS degree
What You Will Bring
- Track record of community engagement and producing public-facing content
- Experience with a cybersecurity vendor in a senior threat intelligence role
- Experience gaining access to and monitoring closed sources
- Additional experience analyzing State Sponsored threat actors
- Experience with dynamic malware analysis using a debugger and/or disassembler
