Role Summary
This is a rare opportunity to be part of a Cybersecurity team that protects a Cybersecurity company.
We are looking for a seasoned and strategic Senior Manager, Threat Response to lead and evolve our threat response capabilities in EMEA. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting a team of high performing security engineers, detection engineers and incident responders, with a mission to defend Sophos, its products and services from emerging threats and operationalize security at scale.
As part of the Global Internal Detection & Response team, you will shape and drive the execution of our Threat Response and Security Engineering roadmaps to enhance detection and response capabilities, working closely with technical leads in each of these units, while leading incident response efforts during critical security events. This role requires a strong engineering mindset, hands-on experience with automation and a passion for building scalable, resilient and proactive security operations
This leadership position creates meaningful, cross-functional impact that sits at the intersection of security engineering, threat detection and incident response units. It requires a balance between empowering your team whilst having sufficient technical acumen to assess incident impact and coach accordingly. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated by technical depth, strategic ownership and operational excellence.
What You Will Do
- Lead the execution of initiatives to improve the Threat response capabilities.
- Define and execute strategic roadmap for Security Operations, ensuring alignment with wider cyber security priorities and business goals.
- Drive continuous improvement across detection engineering, incident response and automation workflows to scale capabilities and reduce MTTD/MTTR.
- Partner with product, SophosLabs, Sophos MDR and IT teams to ensure security is embedded across systems and enterprise technologies.
- Oversee the end-to-end incident response lifecycle, including detection, triage, containment, root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
- Champion the development and refinement of processes and response capabilities using modern AI/LLM, SOAR and/or script based automation techniques.
- Foster the culture of operational excellence, technical innovation, and proactive risk mitigation through metrics and lessons learned.
- Represent the incident response function to leadership teams, delivering clear, actionable insights during security incidents and strategic review sessions.
What You Will Bring
- Proven experience of leading security engineering and incident response teams during incidents in a fast-paced complex environment.
- Deep understanding of modern threat landscapes, attacker tactics, and hands-on familiarity with EDR, SIEM, SOAR, cloud and log management platforms.
- Experience in successfully leading complex cybersecurity projects in an enterprise environment.
- A strategic mindset with ability to evolve the detection engineering and incident response programs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, especially during high impact security incidents.
- Proven track record of coaching and developing teams, promoting a collaborative and empowered security culture that supports psychological safety of the teams.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and influencing security outcomes across business units.
