Role Summary
We are looking for a talented, high-energy leader to own Quality Engineering for our Security Operations group – spanning teams that own MDR and XDR.
As Director of Quality Engineering, you will be responsible for owning, developing & driving the strategic quality roadmap, ensuring high quality releases across the group. You will be working in an agile scrum environment with teams that span multiple time zones and centers of excellence. This is an incredibly important position in which you are expected to stand up for the quality of the product and the customer experience.
This role will require you to work with various stakeholders across Engineering & Product Management to ensure measured, monitored & automation driven software releases with a focus on CI/CD. You will support the teams to implement and deliver a cohesive Test Strategy covering areas such as Test Approach, Test Design, Test Tracking and Quality Metrics. This is a highly involved leadership position for a candidate with a passion for quality, security, technology, and innovation.
What You Will Do
- Management and technical leadership for highly skilled and motivated team of SDETs/QEs distributed across multiple Scrum teams and Geo-locations.
- Proactively drive consistency of QA approach by coaching, mentoring, monitoring and training teams on methodology and processes, to ensure that software quality is consistent across the engineering group.
- Provide leadership to the team for achieving consistent, Monitored and measurable software quality goals.
- Identify the areas for improvement in the current test methodologies and work with the team to address these, using metrics to measure and track progress.
- Identify the gaps in the current automation coverage and develop a plan to increase & measure the coverage going forward.
- Work closely with peers in Engineering and Product Management to ensure high quality and timely delivery of projects.
- Ensure QA represents the customer by validating requirements and acceptance criteria with Product Management so that delivered products meet expectations.
- Work with wider Engineering and Operations teams on the deployment of software and enablement of features in Production to ensure that quality is built into rollout plans.
- Hiring and managing the best quality engineers who are software developers in test and understand software development and automation.
- Driving development and management of Test Strategies & Test Plans.
- Coordination & communication with stakeholders, including Engineering and Product Management Leads, across multiple international sites.
What You Will Bring
- 15 -20 years of technical and Quality Assurance experience
- Bachelor’s or Higher Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Ability and experience in formal supervision, hiring/retaining, coaching, mentoring, and guiding of SDETs
- Experience in managing first-line and/or senior people managers.
- Knowledge and wide application of Software Engineering, DevOps and Quality Assurance principles, theories, concepts, tools.
- Ability to evaluate existing and propose new engineering processes, standards, and best practices.
- Experience in Test Planning, writing Test Strategies.
- Hands-on past Automation / Coding and Code Review experience
- Exposure to API testing using REST APIs
- Experience in Testing of SOA/Microservices based Products and CI/CD Deployments
- Knowledge / Experience with Cloud based platforms and technologies.
- Experience working with Agile/ Scrum SDLC setup.
Desirable
- Experience working with XDR and SIEM technologies.
- Experience building testing strategies within cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Understanding of security operation centers technologies and processes, including analyst workflows for investigation and response.
- Hands-on experience in Automation and Framework Development.
In Canada, the base salary for this role ranges from $165,000 to $275,000. In addition to base salary, we offer additional compensation including bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
