Role Summary:
HR Generalist developing towards an experienced HR Business Partner to support HR delivery to Spain and help determine necessary HR solutions and deliver proactive value add HR support.
Working closely with Global HR Business Partners and Local Leaders to support the delivery of business outcomes and HR Projects and initiatives.
What Will You Do
- Providing a full suite of HR operations and generalist services locally in designated geographical region, managing all aspects of employee management from offer and contract production, onboarding, benefits enrolment, system changes, in and out of cycle employee changes through to handling employment terminations.
- Monthly payroll reporting, ensuring starters, leavers and all in-period changes are captured, audited and shared timely with payroll
- Maintaining system updates and cyclical reviews with the HR HUB team, including absence management, time management, etc. and other new system implementations.
- Adding headcount requisitions to Lever; ensuring all relevant organisational information is correct (cost centre, reporting lines, position numbers, etc.)
- · Supporting the onboarding process from offer, contract, IT equipment, orientation and supporting managers on 30/60/90 planning.
- Partnering with relevant others on various information and system audit processes and supporting others in other regions to do the same.
- Supporting HR Business Partners to implement specific programs and initiatives in the areas of performance management, recognition, workforce planning and employee relations.
- Provide subject matter expertise in local employment law, policy and processes, provide coaching and hands-on support to managers across a broad range of HR topics, ensuring local culture and legislation are understood and applied whilst achieving the required business results
- Provide day-to-day coaching and guidance to line management on areas such as Performance Management, Employee Relations, Career development and Employee Welfare
- Work with our COE teams (i.e. Talent acquisition, L&D, C&B, Comms, Legal) to deliver on necessary activities.
- Drive or be ‘part of’ global and local change programs that are handled in a well-considered and well communicated way; examples include; review/revision of best practice HR policies, continuous development of our new HRIS system and other HR tools and practices, supporting cross department programs (e.g. payroll, finance, legal), being part of or driving various key programs, e.g. relating to I&D or EOS and ensure the effective management, roll out and support for managers and employees to make the changes more impactful.
- Support Talent Management with any leadership coaching or role reviews that might arise during recruitment campaigns.
- Proactively support the Company’s Values, Culture and Behavioural initiatives, such as Inclusion and Diversity, employee recognition, effective employee engagement activities, etc., so that they are embedded in everything Sophos does.

- Essential
- Proven generalist and administrative HR experience in an environment where change is the norm.
- Developing experience of management of cradle to grave and annual cycle HR solutions and practices, including ER, performance and talent management, and compensation reviews.
- Able to support change with pragmatic legal and best practice advice to managers and leaders – able to explain the rationale and show the value, rather than just recite policy or law.
- Proven experience of managing priorities based on business needs
- Proven background of delivery in a complex and fast-paced international work environment
- Demonstrated ability to influence and to build strong relationships, working with a variety of personalities, management levels and stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability of driving initiatives and activities to successful completion
- Strong systems experience with commitment to accuracy and excellence in service delivery
- 5+ years HR experience (administration and generalist)
- Preferred
- Previous experience of working in an international business, proven to participate as a member of business-wide HR & management team
- Project management experience
- Italian or French language skills
- Skills & Abilities
- HR Qualified or working towards; knowledge of Spanish employment law (or able to identify when knowledge is lacking and work with COE partners to build out knowledge.
- Highly collaborative with a strong desire to deliver results and create a positive work environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to adapt to a variety of communication settings and styles
- Strong prioritisation skills
- Ability to work as part of a team, whilst simultaneously being accountable for personal delivery and results

- Fluent standard of business English and either Italian or Spanish languages
