Role Summary
The engineering services team in the Endpoint Security Group are responsible for providing the platform for continuous integration, test and publishing for all endpoint products across Sophos. We use a variety of different operating systems and are always looking for new and innovative ways we can improve the engineering integration with our Cloud based infrastructure. This includes architecting, designing and building new infrastructure and micro-services, as well as acting to support our internal Engineering team customers. We endeavour to provide the best platform for developing new software we can whilst maintaining the robustness and tenacity required by a world leading security software engineering company.
The job requires deep skills in python development, AWS, Infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, cloud-native applications and infrastructure, database systems, and system administration skills. Your skills and experience will be put to good use in continually modernizing, scaling and hardening an infrastructure that keeps pace with a fast-moving industry.
What You Will Do
- Work to help design and build innovative solutions to problems raised by the product teams
- Work effectively independently
- Create estimates and work plans then deliver according to those plans in an agile manner
- Identify areas of opportunity and propose improvements to internal and/or production infrastructure
- Identify operational processes suitable for automation and drive the implementation of solutions
- Carry personal responsibility for high-quality changes to a live IT infrastructure
- Adapt approach and demeanour to match the demands of the situation
What You Will Bring
- Python development ideally including experience of asynchronous code and unit testing.
- Experience and knowledge of building secure, cloud-native applications on AWS, using AWS managed services.
- Knowledge and appropriate usage of microservices-based architectures, including Docker and Kubernetes or other orchestration services.
- Effective communication in a variety of settings: one on one, small and large groups and among diverse styles and position levels.
- Infrastructure as Code experience (CloudFormation/Terraform)
- Experience in delivering modern DevOps and Agile practices for the full development lifecycle.
- A passion for keeping pace with industry trends, technologies, and their appropriate implementations.
- Knowledge of underlying protocols and infrastructures; including DNS, PKI, HTTP, and networking.
- Have some experience of full stack development.
- Linux and Window systems administration.
- Experience of working as part of a global organization with engineering teams across multiple time zones and cultures.
