Join our dynamic team in Exeter as a Payment Processing Specialist! Joining us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £25,000 - £25,727 per annum plus a range of excellent company benefits + rewards.

About the role:
As a Payment Processing Specialist, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate allocation of customer payments within the corporate billing system and suspense accounts, to provide a first-class customer experience to South West Water’s (SWW) and Bournemouth Water (BW) customers in accordance with business priorities and targets.

Possessing strong customer service skills, you will focus on resolving customer contacts to the highest standards, as well as demonstrating a keen eye for detail, the ability to manage a customer journey through to a satisfactory resolution.

What you’ll be doing:

    • Allocate customer payments accurately within corporate systems and suspense accounts
    • Respond to customer contacts via various channels, advising on payment processes
    • Collaborate with back office teams to resolve complaints and understand payment history
    • Maintain accurate customer records in corporate systems
    • Act as an escalation point for offshore payment processing queries
    • Reconcile accounts, manage cash collection, and liaise with internal teams
    • Handle reconciliation and submission of bank files for direct debits
    • Run system reports and uphold intraday system audit requirements
    • Support audit preparation and interview sessions
    • Build effective relationships with co-workers, peers, and external partners
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance cash collection

What we are looking for:

    • GCSE education (grade A-C) or equivalent
    • Previous customer service experience
    • Strong understanding of business goals and objectives
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
    • Ability to challenge and innovate existing practices
    • Knowledge of company systems and accurate data entry skills
    • Proven exceptional customer service and attention to detail
