We currently have an Drainage Engineer position available for a motivated individual to join our team in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experience plus excellent benefits.

As a Drainage Engineer at South West Water, your role will involve developing applications for fresh water and sewer adoptions, aligning them with industry standards, service level mandates, and the regulations outlined in the Water Industry Act.

What you’ll be doing:

    • Assessment and processing of adoption and diversion applications for sewer networks.
    • Ensuring applications are reviewed in accordance with the relevant standards and the appropriate processes are adhered to within regulatory timescales.
    • Keeping our record system up to date with the most recent information at every step
    • Monitoring and reviewing scheme fees to ensure that schemes are completed within budget and any additional costs are recovered.
    • Undertaking all project closure procedures ensuring that all financial and technical duties are completed.
    • Ensuring all job elements are kept the timescales so we achieve the overall scheme Levels of Service.
    • Compliance with current health and safety legislation and policies at all times
    • Monthly reporting and reviews

What we are looking for:

    • A Civil Engineering background with a minimum of an HND or equivalent.
    • Experience in an engineering role and an understanding of the design element of sewers
    • Experience within the water or construction industry
    • Experience in Designing or vetting in line with Sewer adoptions standards (Sewer Sector Guidance)
    • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
