We’re excited to offer an opportunity for a Technical Analyst to join our team based in Exeter.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive salary of up to £28,000 per annum, along with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your wellbeing, development, and work-life balance.
You will be responsible for the management, operation and administration of various IT systems used in the day-to-day activities of the Operation. You will be asked to provide functional expertise in the resolution of queries arising from front line support contacts and take responsibility for support call management, escalating any problems or issues to the Business Systems Administration Manager.
In addition, the Technical Analyst will provide continuous development and improvement of the IT systems used to provide an efficient and cost effective managed service to South West Water. This includes the continuous improvement of core systems, identifying opportunities and areas of efficiency which improve overall performance. You will be required to test new implementation of point releases and upgrades, ensuring that operational impacts are identified and communicated, designing and undertaking full regression and unit testing.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the Business Systems Administration Manager in managing day-to-day system changes, ensuring they are fully approved, rigorously tested, and meet performance standards without compromising system integrity.
- Translating business requirements into effective system and procedural changes, delivering solutions within agreed timeframes and service level targets.
- Planning and overseeing the setup, scheduling, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of system processes—including value changes, standard process launches, and bulk activities.
- Assisting in the preparation and execution of billing and customer accounting control objectives.
- Monitoring system performance, identifying issues, and maintaining clear communication to ensure timely resolution.
- Managing user access controls for testing, training, and operational use, ensuring secure and appropriate permissions.
- Overseeing external data interfaces (e.g., CCBC, BACS) to ensure accurate and timely data exchange, maintaining strong relationships with third-party providers.
- Identifying opportunities for operational improvement, developing business cases, and implementing approved changes to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
What we are looking for:
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience (3–5 years) in a relevant industry.
- Experience in systems testing or administration, including defining test cases, writing test plans, and working with system configurations.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications and familiarity with systems testing tools.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- A collaborative mindset, promoting effective teamwork and service excellence.
- A keen eye for detail, with a curious and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Resilience and adaptability, with a commitment to delivering business needs in a dynamic environment.
