We currently have an opportunity for a Transactional Services Supervisor to join our team based in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,000 – £33,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
 
About the role

The successful candidate will take a supervisory role in the Pennon Transactional Services Team which is dedicated to providing a high-quality service to all entities within The Pennon Group. The main focus being ensuring that all tasks are completed in a timely fashion with a high attention to detail. Take ownership of specific tasks in the area and ensure that key links with both internal and external stakeholders are maintained at a high level. Help drive through business improvements in the area in conjunction with the Transactional Services Manager and other relevant staff members.

What you'll be doing:

    • Take ownership of specific key tasks within the area such as Direct Debit allocation, management of suspense accounts and processing of Non-Domestic Rates.
    • Produce and manage a period end reporting suite (including bank and balance sheet reconciliations), both identifying where future focus is required and celebrating successes.
    • Manage the various invoice workflows, ensuring that all queues have an owner who is accountable for them, and appropriate focus is being given to all tasks.
    • Become an expert Ellipse user and offer advice and guidance to the business and group where required.
    • Act as a point of contact for the Transactional Services Team and assist in dealing with queries from both internal and external sources, developing working relationships with people around the business establishing themselves as a go to person.
    • Be a key figure in the wider Finance Team, ensuring that all requests for information related to Accounts Payable are dealt with.
    • Management of staff within the Transactional Services area.
    • Prepare and help to process mid-month and month-end Payment Runs, ensuring the timely payment of invoices and therefore avoidance of any negative action by Suppliers.
    • Ensure the continuation of close working relationships with all stakeholders, including the Group Procurement and the Procure to Pay functions.
    • Assist in the collation of audit requests, internal and external, and when needed act as a contact point throughout the process.

What we are looking for:

    • GCSE grade C (minimum) or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent
    • Detailed knowledge of Ellipse or a similar accounting system.
    • Previous experience within an Accounts Payable environment.
    • Experiences in using all Microsoft Office applications.
    • Experience of problem solving and developing solutions when issues arise. 
    • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels and prioritise workloads with high attention to detail. Examples of leadership in a task-orientated environment
