As our Civil Estimator, you will contribute to all aspects of the preconstruction process including but not limited to plans and specs review, soliciting and negotiating prices with subcontractors/suppliers, quantity take-off, pricing, scoping and bid tabulation, bidding, and value engineering. Every day we'll rely on you to collaborate with SpawGlass operation teams as well as subcontractors, suppliers, owners, architects, and engineers. To thrive in this role, you should be proactive, communicate effectively, and have the ability to connect with teams and stakeholders.
What you'll do
- Contribute to preconstruction efforts including assessing project risks, pricing, budgeting, and bidding of construction projects
- Communicate effectively with architects and consultants to clarify and document the scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements
- Conduct reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities
- Compare and analyze competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Participate in hard bid/estimating and GMP budgeting activities by soliciting subcontractor support and evaluating bids
- Support our efforts to create and maintain a competitive advantage by inspiring teams and building relationships with subcontractors
What you bring to the team:
- You have a bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, management, accounting, or a related field OR previous experience as a civil construction estimator
- You are proficient with estimating software – HCSS Heavy Bid
- Knowledge of estimating technology and tools such as On-Screen Takeoff (OST), AGTEK, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Bluebeam is preferred
- Knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles
- Familiarity with all aspects of horizontal and infrastructure projects
