As our Senior Estimator, you will collaborate across teams to deliver comprehensive estimates for major projects encompassing healthcare, government, higher education, and corporate offices among others. Every day we will rely on you to analyze project documents, specifications, and drawings, utilize your knowledge of various contract types, foster relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry stakeholders, and ensure accuracy and precision in all project bids. To thrive in this role, you should have a deep understanding of various project delivery methods, possess excellent communication and presentation skills, and embrace a commitment to our core values and continuous improvement in estimating practices.
What you'll do
- Review project specifications and drawings meticulously to determine the scope of work and essential contents of the estimate.
- Prepare estimates with precision by calculating comprehensive takeoffs for major projects across myriad market sectors
- Request quotations from subcontractors and suppliers, efficiently organize and review received quotes, and maintain an up-to-date log to facilitate the estimating process.
- Actively engage in bid review meetings with owners or owner's representatives, ensuring that project goals and objectives are well-aligned.
- Participate in project hand-off meetings, contributing to a seamless transition from the estimation phase to project execution.
- Demonstrate expertise in delivering major bids, managing all bid-related responsibilities, and ensuring the timely submission of competitive bids.
- Visit project sites to gain firsthand knowledge of construction methods, enhancing estimating accuracy and understanding of project requirements.
- Maintain an extensive and well-organized database with current contact information for subcontractors and vendors to foster strong relationships and facilitate efficient communication.
- Maintain organized files of working documents as a backup for estimate figures, ensuring accuracy and preserving historical records.
- Perform post-bid analysis, including the creation of "bid tabs," to evaluate the competitiveness and accuracy of submitted bids, enabling continuous improvement in the bidding process.
What you bring to the team
- You have experience in vertical construction estimating across diverse sectors
- Proficiency in construction takeoff software and tools
- An established network of subcontractors and suppliers in the construction industry
- Prior superintendent or project management experience is an advantage
