As our Equipment Service Technician, you will help ensure our fleet of light construction equipment operates at peak performance. You’ll be responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance on compact construction equipment, as well as safely delivering and retrieving equipment to and from job sites – ensuring each unit is ready for immediate use. Successful team members in this role have a proven mechanical background, are self-motivated and exhibit a high standard for service, professionalism and safety. 

What you'll do

    • Perform routine preventive maintenance on compact construction equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
    • Conduct equipment inspections, identify wear or damage, and document findings using inspection forms or digital tools.
    • Complete light mechanical repairs such as hose and belt replacements, and escalate larger issues to shop mechanics.
    • Safely load, transport, and deliver light construction equipment (non-CDL), ensuring proper setup and briefings at job sites.
    • Maintain accurate service logs, delivery records, and status updates using tablets or mobile devices.
    • Follow all company, DOT, and OSHA safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and handling of hazardous materials.

What you bring to the team

    • Previous experience in equipment maintenance, small engine repair, or related field preferred
    • Basic mechanical knowledge of engines, hydraulics, and fuel systems
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL not required)
    • Ability to safely operate and transport compact construction equipment
    • Proficiency using tablets or mobile devices for service documentation

Essential Functions

    • Perform physically demanding tasks including bending, kneeling, climbing, and working on uneven surfaces or in confined spaces.
    • Stand for extended periods (up to 7 hours per shift) and safely navigate ladders, stairs, scaffolds, and ditches.
    • Use hand tools and perform detailed work requiring good finger dexterity and depth perception.
    • Safely lift up to 50 lbs independently and more with assistance; frequent lifting of 25 lbs and regular lifting of 10 lbs.
    • Must be able to recognize color-coded safety labels and respond to audible job site warnings.

Work Enviornment

    • Work primarily outdoors on active construction sites with exposure to varying weather conditions (25º to 115ºF), noise, dust, and occasional fumes or chemicals (in well-ventilated areas).
    • May occasionally work in confined spaces.
    • Required to wear proper PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility vests, and puncture-resistant footwear.
    • Must maintain a clean, professional appearance.
    • Work schedule may vary based on project needs and timelines.
