Spotify’s Trust & Safety team is seeking a mid-level to experienced Backend Engineer to play a pivotal role in creating and evolving the core infrastructure that empowers our specialists to identify, review, and take action on harmful or inappropriate content across the platform. In this position, you will design and implement robust backend solutions that enhance the accuracy, speed, and efficiency of our Trust & Safety operations. This includes developing flexible, high-performing systems to process and surface critical data, enabling seamless collaboration between internal teams and third-party integrations. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining a safe and trustworthy experience for Spotify's global user base. 

What You'll Do

    • Deliver high-impact and high-visibility products with the fast-paced style of a startup, supported by the resources of a global company
    • Develop APIs and integrations with third party integrations and SaaS partners to surface critical data for Trust & Safety specialists, enabling efficient decision-making and actions.
    • Collaborate with T&S operational teams to deliver compliant, secure, and trustworthy tooling supported by robust data tracking pipelines.
    • Productionize intelligent workflows with T&S data scientists, including automating complex decision-making processes and surfacing ML-based leads for future review.
    • Promote and implement SRE methodologies, enabling smooth deployments, monitoring and short feedback loops to resolve incidents.

Who You Are

    • BS/MS in CS or other relevant fields of study with 4+ years of relevant experience post-bachelors graduation or 2+ years post-masters graduation
    • You are proficient in Java, Python and/or Scala, with a willingness to pick up other programming languages. 
    • You have experience with SaaS infrastructure, cloud-based environments, Kubernetes and Docker environments
    • You have a passion for learning, experimenting, scaling and working with new technologies, while adapting quickly
    • You have experience working within distributed systems and have designed highly-scalable systems across various projects, platforms, or portals
    • You are comfortable designing tooling in ambiguous environments and working collaboratively with multi-functional teams to nail down deliverable requirements
    • You are excited about solving very loosely defined problems and thrive when working on a team that has autonomy in their day-to-day decisions

    • For this role, you can be within the EMEA region as long as we have a work location (excluding France due to on-call restrictions) .This team operates within the Central European and GMT time zone for collaboration.
