We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Engineering Manager to lead our Data Engineering team supporting the Platform Mission at Spotify. This role is pivotal in ensuring the data infrastructure and pipelines that power our information and shape our strategy and objectives are robust, scalable, and efficient.

As a Data Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team that builds and maintains the data pipelines and infrastructure that underpin our Mission systems. You will work closely with product managers, data engineers, data scientists, and software engineers to deliver high-quality data solutions that enable personalized visual experiences and empower our Platform teams.

What You'll Do

    • Provide servant leadership for the team that reports to you
    • Delivery of product improvements, features, migrations, and overall technical health
    • Cultivate a balanced and collaborative data engineering culture and a diverse and inclusive team that reflects our customers and the industry
    • Collaborate with technical and product partners to define success metrics and roadmaps
    • Influence and support the development of the technical architecture of the team’s stack
    • Advocate for the increased knowledge of the Data Engineering tools and capabilities across the company.

Who You Are

    • An experienced manager with full stack experience
    • You excel at influencing without authority and being an effective communicator (both written and verbal)
    • Are passionate about growing and developing data engineering teams as well as the technical ecosystem that comes with it
    • Are empathetic towards customer pains and are comfortable translating them into technical requirements
    • Confident managing stakeholders across multiple levels
    • Have a fundamental Computer Science background with specific Data Engineering experience
    • Ideally proficient in cloud architecture, java, react, python, scala, Apache ecosystem, and Google Cloud Platform technologies

Where You'll Be

    • This role is based in London, UK, or Stockholm, Sweden.
    • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. 
    • This team operates within the Central European and GMT time zone for collaboration.
