Job Title: Backend Engineer II

                     

DUTIES: Design technical specifications of software systems based on product requirements. Implement designs to build services and data structures. Test and monitor software systems and respond to outages and incidents. Provide guidance and feedback on resolving technical debt and best practices in discipline area. Work with designers, product, engineers in other disciplines, and leadership to set appropriate delivery timelines and overcome obstacles to delivery. *Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Spotify office in New York, NY

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree (U.S or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field of study and four (4) years of experience in backend software engineering or related position. Must have four (4) years of experience with: Developing, maintaining, and scaling distributed backend services in Java; Working with cloud platforms, including GCP; Data modeling, database design, and query optimization with SQL, NoSQL, and OLAP databases; and Experience with system design, data structures, and algorithms. Must have two (2) years of experience with: technical writing and communication, including documenting decisions, writing RFCs and other technical specification documents, and translating product briefs into technical designs; and modern developer tooling - Git, CI/CD, IaC frameworks, monitoring tools. Must have one (1) year of experience with: Building and maintaining websocket endpoints; and working with GRPC.

SALARY: $182,962 - $274,443/ year
