Job Title: Data Scientist II
DUTIES: Contributing to long-term strategic planning by identifying and prioritizing high-impact projects requiring data science involvement that align with Spotify’s business goals. Develop research questions and undertake data exploration to understand who our listeners are, how they get value out of Spotify, and where we can develop our product to bring greater value. Design, analyze, and interpret the results of experiments. Investing and leading initiatives that improve the efficiency of our data, systems and measurement capabilities by leveraging new and existing methodologies. Define, evaluate, dashboard, and monitor metrics, understanding the root causes of changes. Communicate insights and recommendations to collaborators across Spotify to build out our product strategy. Overseeing large-scale, cross-functional data science projects that require coordination with multiple teams and functions, including engineering,product management, and design. Perform exploratory analyses to understand the performance of our machine-learning systems. Drive adoption and contribute to the Tech strategy of the Product area by identifying data, tooling and evaluation investments required to fulfill the product strategy. Contribute to the development of the Product Insights function and the wider analytics community at Spotify. Collaborate with user researchers in mixed-method research to guide product teams in planning current and future work. Providing mentorship and guidance to junior data scientists, helping them develop their technical skills and understanding of the business. *Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed in any location in the U.S.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computational Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a closely related information sciences field and two (2) years of experience in data science or a closely related field. Must have two (2) years of experience with: utilizing Python and SQL; statistical knowledge of online testing methodologies and practices, including user-focused metric development; utilizing visualization tools (Tableau or Matplotlib); experience with Statistical Inferences; using machine learning and data science techniques for data exploration and predictive analysis; building statistical and machine learning models; experience with Model Interpretation; Modeling techniques to include: regression models, tree models, neural networks, clustering; leveraging large amounts of user data (100M+ records) and ensuring compliance with GDPR and other privacy regulations; building scalable data pipelines for large-scale production systems (100M+ users) using Python or Scala; planning, running, and analyzing A/B test results for large, multi-national user base and presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders; and collaborating with user researchers in mixed method research.
SALARY: $125,735 to $188,603 / year
